Problem: A user’s computer would shut down when printing, preventing the customer from making crucial prints. I remoted into the user’s desktop to troubleshoot the issue. I ran a hardware diagnostic and printed to the Ricoh printer without issue. When I tested the user’s other printer, the computer shutdown.
Solution: Once I was reconnected I spoke with the user to get a better idea of her work environment. It turns out the user’s computer would shut down when printing to the Xerox which was on the same circuit as her desktop. Being that the computer shutdown when printing, she told me her UPS (battery backup) was failing. We replaced her UPS and the issue was resolved.
